The Man In The Apartment Riddle

Alright so a man lives in a 30-story apartment and everyday he wakes up and goes to work. He steps into his apartment elevator presses the button labeled 1 and goes to lobby thentakes the city bus to work. When he gets back from work he walks back to his elevator and pushes the button labeled 10 then goes to floor ten and wlaks up to the 30th story. Why doesnt he just push the 30th story button?
