Forrest Fire Riddle

There was a huge forrest fire and beside it there was a river. In the river there was a man swimming a few moments later he drowned. Later two men were walking where the fire was. They found the man that had drowned in the river in the middle of the the washed out fire. If the man died in the river how did he end up in the middle of the fire beside it?
